From the Stone Age to the peat industry.
At Klosterlund Museum, you can see exhibitions on the animals of the forest, the machines used for working with peat, as well as original archaeological findings dating back to the Stone Age. We tell the story of how people have inhabited this area for thousands of years, how they lived, and in particular how they through the years have utilized the peat of the bogs.
For families with children, there are plenty of opportunities to play at our big nature playground, with a view of the Bølling lake. You can also meet old farming breeds of horses, rabbits, geese, pigeons, and chickens. In the summer, our volunteers show how the hard work was done, when men dug up the peat by hand and with machines.
After visiting the exhibitions, you can go for a walk in the beautiful surroundings, enjoy your own food under the trees, or end the day with a visit to our museum shop.
